Whole Foods has purchased a local whole grocer in Jackson Hole and will turn it into the first of the chain’s locations in Wyoming. (Related: 100 Unhealthiest Foods on the Planet.)

The owners of the local grocery store, who founded the company in Wyoming in 1987, decided to sell to Whole Foods because the missions of the two stores are similar, according to Buckrail.

“For more than ten years, it has been an honor to steward Jackson Whole Grocer. During that time, our team has proudly served our customers and community,” the owner of Jackson Whole Grocer, Jeff  Rice, says. “We are confident that our customers and  employees will greatly benefit from the working and shopping experience that Whole Foods Market offers, and we are excited to welcome Whole Foods Market to the Jackson community.”

The store will stay open as the ownership changes, which is expected to close soon. Whole Foods will also offer positions to all employees who are qualified.

Currently, Whole Foods has stores in all states except Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia, Delaware, and Vermont. In development right now is the first location in Wisconsin, as well as stores in other states. In October 2020, the company announced the first Whole Foods in Idaho, which is said will take about a year to build.
