Members of the Dana Level and Capistrano Beach communities are encouraging people today to drop off bulk snacks and notes of encouragement to wellness care staff at Mission Clinic as component of the “Hugs for Heroes” initiative at the Dana Position Group Center.

“The notion arose out of many discussions both individually and by means of Capo Cares Facebook, in which folks expressed a drive to ‘do something’ to help—to by some means ship a tiny encouragement and assist to the guys and females who have been working so challenging on the frontlines of this pandemic,” stated Toni Nelson, cofounder of Capo Cares.

Nelson has partnered with Metropolis of Dana Point, Mission Cares (a nonprofit that supports Mission Hospital Foundation) and Larry Robinson, proprietor of the Fish Tank, a Capo Seashore arts venue. The town will be facilitating selection, though Robinson and Nelson will coordinate deliveries.

Mission Medical center is accepting any bulk treats or drinks as very long as they are individually wrapped and do not have to have refrigeration. Bulk fruits can be donated in boxes or bags. Do-it-yourself snacks cannot be acknowledged because of to medical center protocol. Advised donations include separately packaged nuts, dried fruit, granola bars, fruit cups, apple sauce, beef or turkey jerky, path blend, juices, Gatorade, chips, popcorn, muffins and cookies.

Though handwritten notes simply cannot be authorized in COVID treatment locations, Mission Cares staff will article them on general bulletin boards in the course of the hospital and scan some of them into the medical center newsletter.
