A marae-dependent project in Northland is training regional residents to mature their personal foodstuff, in a bid to foster foodstuff safety and encourage healthful ingesting.

A amount of instructional hui will be held to educate people in Kaipara how to make the most of their yard to increase kai.

The programme is being formulated by the Māuri Orā ki Ngāti Whatua Charitable Rely on, with the initial hui scheduled to be held at Naumai Marae in Ruawai on January 23.

A pilot backyard with herbs, and veggies these kinds of as lettuce, silverbeet, onions and carrots, will also be planted at the marae.

Māuri Orā ki Ngāti Whatua Charitable Trust been given $20,000 from MPI’s Rural Neighborhood Hubs programme to operate the project.
