MacKenzie Scott donates $4.2B to hundreds of organizations in the U.S.

Writer and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott introduced she has donated above $4.2 billion in the past 4 months to 384 organizations throughout all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington D.C. amid the impacts of the pandemic.

The news comes after Scott donated additional than $1.7 billion to various organizations, including historically Black schools and universities in July. 

Scott, the former wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, posted a record of the hundreds of companies that gained money in her Medium website post. The services furnished by these groups include food banking companies, crisis relief money, credit card debt reduction, employment coaching, credit rating and economic solutions for below-resourced communities, schooling for traditionally marginalized and underserved individuals, civil legal rights advocacy, and legal defense funds that take on institutional discrimination.

“These 384 meticulously chosen groups have dedicated their lives to supporting other folks, performing and volunteering and serving serious men and women encounter-to-face at bedsides and tables, in prisons and courtrooms and lecture rooms, on streets and healthcare facility wards and hotlines and frontlines of all types and measurements, working day following day right after working day,” Scott stated in the assertion.
