GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — The winner of a Meals Community cooking display levels of competition has been found guilty in the beating loss of life last year of a 3-year-old foster kid in her care.
The jury deliberated for about an hour prior to providing the unanimous verdict Thursday against Ariel Robinson, 30, of Simpsonville, news shops described. She created no remark ahead of Judge Letitia Verdin sentenced her to lifetime in prison on a charge of murder by child abuse.
“In my 13-14 years as a judge, I have never ever seen something like this,” Verdin stated. ”Not even approaching it.”
Verdin acknowledged Robinson’s attorney’s statement that his client snapped but asked, “Why allow this baby undergo?”
Victoria “Tori” Smith died Jan. 14, 2021, in Robinson’s property just after suffering blows to her legs and abdomen since she did not eat her pancakes quick sufficient. The child died from blunt power injuries and inside bleeding, officers explained.
Robinson was the winner of Time 20 of “Worst Cooks in America” on Food stuff Network.
The child’s organic relatives cried and hugged a single one more just after courtroom was dismissed.
“Praise God,” explained Vickie Phares, the toddler’s biological excellent-grandmother. “Justice was served for our toddler.”
Robinson and her husband, Austin Robinson, had custody of the minor girl and her two more mature biological brothers for 10 months and were scheduled to undertake them the 7 days just after Victoria died.
Austin Robinson pleaded responsible to aiding and abetting murder by kid abuse past month. He faces up to 20 decades in prison. A sentencing day has not been scheduled.
He testified that his wife defeat the youngster with a belt. Medical evidence showed she died when blood pooled in her human body and could not get to her mind.
