IONIA — Ionia County eating places have been strike tough during the COVID-19 pandemic, so the county wellbeing division is providing a nice gesture to support them out.

The waiver doesn’t use to the portion of the payment gathered by the condition — only the county portion, Bowen mentioned. It also doesn’t use to Particular Transitory Foodstuff Units, or food stuff wagons, as those inspection fees are set by the point out.
The waiver would value the well being section roughly $70,000 for fiscal year 2021, but Bowen believes it can offset the reduction with community local community stabilization cash — a new supply of funding granted previous yr. Bowen said the total of the funds is about $84,000.
Bowen pointed out the wellness department obtained the community group stabilization money in 2020 but was not persuaded it would get the revenue for 2021, so it was not budgeted for this 12 months.
Bowen expects to receive the funds, but mentioned the wellness division would have to dip into its fund balance to make up the price tag if it doesn’t.
“We do need that earnings,” Bowen said. “I really do not want to give the impact that we can throw that earnings absent and not worry about it. It’s just that we sort of had a very little little bit of a quirk in the budget that will allow us to make it up and enable out our neighborhood establishments.”
Commissioners supported the gesture, such as Scott Wirtz of District 5.
