CHICAGO (CBS) — Monday is the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, and a working day before, a team West Side community leaders acquired a head start on the day of company that honors the Dr. King’s legacy.

As CBS 2’s Jim Williams reported, local community leaders went out Sunday to meet up with the instant requires of homeless Chicagoans living in tents – very hot food, lengthy underwear, heat coats.
But the group leaders experienced prolonged-lasting sustenance in intellect as they worked at Chicago and Albany avenues.
“Our local community have to arrive together to not only provide shelter, but also offer all of the methods,” reported U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-Illinois).

“We believe that that on the West Side of Chicago, we all are traumatized,” reported the Rev. Walter Jones of Fathers Who Care. “We all are suffering from different unique mental and behavioral health problems.”
