Il Sogno owner tells Cuomo: ‘Sweat, blood, tears’ manufactured my desire. ‘I’m on the brink of losing it all.’ | Pamela’s Food Service Diary

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Pedro Canello owns Annadale’s wonderful eating cafe Il Sogno, a word that interprets from Italian to “dream.” The linen cloth eatery has been acknowledged for its steaks, wine checklist and, in pre-COVID-19 periods, for its weekend entertainment. But these times, Canello says Governor Andrew Cuomo’s modern mandate to shut indoor eating puts Il Sogno precariously shut to going out of organization.

“For a few weeks I’ve been closed for indoor dining. It was intended to be right up until the COVID numbers went down which is wholly unfair contemplating the other fifty percent of the island was open. New Jersey, which is 20 minutes away was open. Now as of Monday I’m shut indefinitely for indoor dining.”

Pedro continued, “My lease is nevertheless because of, mild, staff members salaries. What am I intended to do?
