Burgers by Sam the Cooking Guy Coming to the Little Italy Food Hall

Sam “the Cooking Guy” Zien, who launched a ghost kitchen at Seaport Village this past October to showcase his take on burgers, is bringing his signature Samburgers to the Little Italy Food Hall. Grit & Grain Collective, his partners in hospitality projects that include Graze by Sam in the Piazza della Famiglia, are also the developers behind the food hall.

a sandwich sitting on top of a wooden table: A typical fast-food hamburger contains meat from not just dozens, but possibly hundreds of cattle, according to Fast Food Nation, written by journalist Eric Schlosser. McDonald's confirms that in the blending process, the chain does mix beef from different delivery batches and the resulting burgers could very well be made up of the meat from more than 100 cattle.

Featuring recipes inspired by Zien’s popular YouTube channel, including a teriyaki-bacon burger with grilled pineapple and a guacamole-topped jalapeno burger, Samburgers will be moving into the front space that currently houses Zien’s Not Not Tacos and his taco station will be switching spots and replacing Semola in the food hall. The quick-service artisan pasta concept, run by the owners of Ambrogio15, will be reopening in La Jolla as a stand-alone restaurant.

Zien, whose latest cookbook is titled Sam the Cooking Guy: Recipes with Intentional Leftovers, is also taking his food to Costa Mesa, where virtual versions of Not Not Tacos and Samburgers will debut in early 2021.
