A father has sparked a heated debate on social media after ranking popular Christmas foods from best to worst.

Media manager Bruno Bouchet, from Sydney, shared his ‘definitive’ rankings of 16 festive foods, crowning eggnog as number one and describing prawns as ‘cat vomit’.

The former Kyle & Jackie O radio show producer – who’s known for rating iconic snacks, fast food burgers and pizza toppings – has attracted the ire of celebrities with his list, including My Kitchen Rules judge Manu Feildel.

‘The 100 per cent accurate Christmas foods power rankings. Don’t bother commenting, this isn’t up for discussion,’ Bruno wrote on Instagram.

Eggnog and Panettone, which is an Italian type of sweet bread, were awarded the coveted top spot in the ‘God tier’ category.

Roast turkey and marshmallow Santa featured in the second-best ‘Royalty tier’, alongside Boiled Sweets, also known as hard candy.

In the centre of his rankings, Bruno put gingerbread, cherries, Yule log [Christmas cake] and Christmas Mixture [lollies] in the ‘Adam Sandler tier’, or what he describes as the middle ground of ‘take it or leave it’.

The ‘Pleb’ or second-lowest tier proved controversial for its inclusion of one of Australia’s popular festive desserts pavlova, alongside cob loaf, fruit mince and pudding.

Prawns, candy cane and Quality Street [chocolates and toffees] stood at the bottom of the barrel in the ‘cat vomit’ tier.

Dozens of people were furious with his ‘wrong’ ranking, while others were offended by the low placement of prawns,

‘I’ll have prawns over turkey any day of the year,’ Manu wrote, while Beau Ryan said: ‘Prawns are god tier. Give yourself an uppercut.’

Ed said: ‘Was there a food poisoning experience attached to the prawns? Fresh baked bread, butter and cold prawns is a bomb Christmas snack! I feel attacked,’ while Bree added: ‘How dare you disrespect prawns!’

Many were baffled by the high ranking of eggnog and Panettone.

‘Bruno have you had a stroke? Eggnog?! And pavlova and prawns not at the top? What is wrong with you?’ Peta wrote.

Richie said: ‘Who the heck in Australia has eggnog or turkey… Nobody,’ while Sarina added: ‘Flip that list. Nobody actually eats the Panettone. Prawns are number one.’

Others pointed out Christmas classics such as ham, stuffing, roast pork and oysters were missing from his list.

Surprisingly, some agreed with his rankings.

‘Great call on call on the prawns, overpriced, overrated and most of the time overcooked,’ Catherine wrote.

While Kathy added: ‘I’m so glad to see someone finally got it right with the Panettone on the God tier. Hats off to you. Spot on.’

Meanwhile, others said ‘nobody in Australia has eggnog or turkey’ on Christmas day.
