Amarillo Food Establishment Inspection Report for Dec. 27, 2020

The Food Establishment Inspection Report is a weekly report that appears Sundays. Information is taken from reports provided by the Environmental Health Department, and individual reports can be viewed at its website,

100 points – No major violation at the time of inspection

85 points – Considered an average score

70 points or below – Requires re-inspection within 24 hours

COS – Corrected on site during inspection

These points correspond to the following letter grades:

A – 90 to 100

B – 80 to 89

C – 70 to 79

F – 69 and below

The following establishments had a score of A/100 during a follow-up inspection:

These establishments received the following scores for being out of compliance as stated:

(A/93) Braum’s Ice Cream #69, 7401 S.W. 34th Ave. Inside ice maker dirty and mold growing. Correct by 12/11. Ice maker needs to be cleaned regularly (repeat violation); nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment must be kept free of accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue and other debris (repeat violation); intake and exhaust air ducts must be cleaned and filters changed; hole in wall under hand sink needs to be repaired (repeat violation). Correct by 03/09/21.

(A/97) Delvin’s Restaurant, 1300 N. Hughes St. All damaged gaskets need to be repaired or replaced; non-food contact surfaces of equipment must be kept free of accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue and other debris; intake and exhaust air ducts must be cleaned and filters changed. Correct by 03/10/21.

(A/96) Donut Stop, 100 23rd St., Canyon. Hand lotion stored on food counter; sanitizer buckets cannot be stored on food counter or on floor; blender pitcher not inverted to dry; tongs stored on cabinet handle. COS.

(A/99) Friendship Ranch, 1108 24th St., Canyon. Soap remaining in dishwasher at end of cycle. COS. 

(A96) Got Donuts, 601 23rd St., Canyon. Lotion on food counter; chemicals stored on floor (repeat violation); personal clothing not stored properly. COS.

(A/96) Palo Duro Trading Post, 11450 P5, Canyon. Chemical stored over food. COS. Holes in walls and ceiling need to be repaired; wall behind ice machine is broken and not cleanable. Correct by 03/09/21.

(A/97) Park Place Towers, 1300 S. Harrison St. Ice used for human consumption must be stored in a clean, sanitized container; calcium and residue build-up on outside of ice machine needs to be removed. Correct by 12/19. Air ducts above prep tables need to be wiped down and cleaned to prevent possible contamination. Correct by 03/09/21.

(A/95) Petro Stopping Centers Convenience Store, 8500 E. I-40. Tea nozzle dirty. Correct by 12/12. Stir sticks must be kept in original protective package or stored using other means to provide protection from contamination; cabinets at drink station are damaged and need to be repaired. Correct by 03/09/21.

(A/997) Petro Stopping Centers Dunkin Donuts 307, 8500 E. I-40. Dirty items in overhead drain board. Correct by 12/12.

(B/88) Petro Stopping Centers Iron Skillet, 8500 E. I-40. Mechanical ware washer not operating (repeat violation); dirty item in clean ware storage rack (repeat violation); single-use gloves must be used for only one task and discarded when damaged or soiled. Correct by 12/12. Person in charge not knowledgeable of food borne disease prevention and HACCP principles; ware washing machine needs to be cleaned at least every 24 hours. Correct by 12/19. Premises must be routinely inspected for pests; equipment throughout grill area needs cleaning (repeat violation). Correct by 03/09/21.

(A/96) Pizza Hut, 110 23rd St., Canyon. Certified food manager registration must be renewed annually. Correct by 12/13. Mold in ice machine; all nonfood-contact surfaces must be kept clean to sight and touch. Correct by 03/02/21.

(B/88) Pony Express Burritos, 2808 4th Ave., Canyon. Pans not cleaned properly; employee did not wash hands properly at hand sink; thermometer not located in warmest part of cooler; utensil drawer dirty; cleaned pans must be inverted to dry; waste grease bin and surrounding area not clean; floor needs to be repainted; ceiling panel missing above reach-in coolers; floor fan and ladder stored in kitchen not clean; sewer clean-out cap not attached at back door (repeat violation). COS. Gap at bottom of back door. Correct by 12/10.

(A/96) R&R Bar, 701 S. Georgia St. Ice used for human consumption must be stored in a clean, sanitized container; baffle inside ice machine needs to be cleaned. Correct by 12/19. Ice containers in bar area need to be smooth, durable, non-absorbent and easily cleanable; food residue build-up in microwave. Correct by 03/09/21.

(A/99) Roaster’s Coffee & Tea, 3429 S. Soncy Road. Hole above back door needs to be repaired. Correct by 03/10/21.

(A/94) Schlotzskys/Cinnabon. 3440 Bell St. Bread on cart touching soiled fire extinguisher. COS. Splash guard needed at hand sink next to prep table in kitchen; nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment must be kept free of accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue and other debris (repeat violation); cleaning must be done during periods when the least amount of food is exposed, such as after closing. Correct by 03/10/21.

(A/91) Thai Kitchen Restaurant, 713 23rd St., Canyon. Wicker being used as cooking utensil; thermometer not located in warmest part of cooler; no paper towels at restroom; bottom of shelf above food prep area must be sealed or painted to enable cleaning and sanitizing. COS.

(A/99) Toot ‘n Totum #40, 2700 W. I-40. Residue build-up on outside of soda machine. Correct by 03/09/21.

(A/98) United Supermarket #532, 201 N. 23rd St., Canyon. Leak at cooker in kitchen. COS. Employee cell phone on food counter (repeat violation). Correct by 12/09.

(A/95) Yellow City Street Food, 2916 Wolflin Ave. Tea urn nozzles and inside ice machine need cleaning. Correct by 12/12. Food handler certification needed. Correct by 12/19.

(A/99) Yellow City Street Food – Mobile, 2916 Wolflin Ave. Automatic fire suppression needed in mobile unit. Correct by 03/09/21.
