For a certain segment of the population, the Super Bowl is barely a reason to watch football. It’s a day devoted to gluttony. Bring on buffalo wings, sliders, fries and all the dips, please.
Even though outdoor dining has returned in time for the Kansas City Chiefs to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa on Feb. 7, watching the Super Bowl has always been more of an indoor, at-home occasion anyway. This year, loads of Bay Area restaurants are offering Super Bowl specials for takeout and delivery, so you can feast as usual in front of your television — without cooking a huge spread just for the members of your household.
Here are 17 Bay Area restaurants worth checking out for their Super Bowl specials, which joyfully maintain the all-American junk food spirit while using high-quality ingredients. Even fine dining spots are on this list, topping nachos with caviar and pairing Champagne with wings. Along with the usual favorite apps, many provide full-blown meals to get you through the long afternoon, like fried chicken with biscuits or smashburgers with a side of ribs.
Note that some restaurants require pre-orders, while others allow you to make a last-minute decision day-of. A few offer meal kits you must finish preparing at home. And most also offer booze.
